Hola, I never considered the meaning of the term Elder until I read the book by Dr. Anita L. Sánchez "The Four Sacred Gifts: Indigenous Wisdom for Modern Times." Dr. Sánchez describes it as follows: "This is more than acknowledgment of their age; it is a term of respect for their lifetime commitment to embody, practice, and share indigenous wisdom. Through their actions, decisions, practices, and knowledge, an Elder is seen for who and what they are, are sought for their wisdom, guidance, and counsel. And, by doing so, the people, the community, give the title of Elder" (page 6). Today, I reflect on how I have started acknowledging the Elders in my life and share my thoughts on how our society views them. Abrazos, Ericka Sánchez, A. (2017). What I have come to realize is that to do that, we must pay attention to what matters to us first and stop allowing our physical world to determine how we live. Today, I share how to use the chat tool within a lesson to provide structure and promote language learning. As I prepared for meeting my students again through online platforms, I weighed in curricular vs. individual needs. Hola, The past eight to ten days have been a whirlwind. You may have found yourself, just like me, increasing the amount of time in social media as a way to connect to others. Although this is a positive side effect of the situation, I found that one hashtag was getting the best of me. Let's be mindful of the hashtags we use and the posts we read and share so that we use social media to uplift us and not the other way around.
